Accomplishments

Since its inception in 1998, the Chicago Heights Leadership Council has been actively participating in the revitalization of the downtown business area of Chicago Heights. Accomplishments to date, either directly or through its membership include:

• Commissioning of a "Comprehensive Redevelopment Plan" which was adopted as part of the City of Chicago Heights overall redevelopment plan
• Acquiring of seven parcels of land in order to control and better coordinate the redevelopment of these properties
• Landscaping and adding grassy areas
• Enlarging, updating and improving the Pace Transportation Center
• Building of "Community Health Center"
• Hanging fifty (50) banners in the downtown area with the motto "It's Right Downtown"
• Creating marketing brochures
• Sponsoring various activities to promote community and business awareness
• Expansion of the First National Bank drive-up facility
• Sponsored a candidate forum prior to the February 2003 mayoral primary
• Hosted the Pre-Alliance Day "Discovering Southland Treasurers"
